2016 - Peter Pan

Past Shows > 1994 - today

Peter Pan – The Panto was staged in Enniscorthy’s Athenaeum from 8th to 11th December this year. The fantastic cast brought the exciting panto to Enniscorthy audiences. Leading the talented cast were Edward O'Dowd and Emma O'Leary as Pan and Tinkerbell. Local rising stars, Cailín Mullett, Christopher Kelly and Sean Milbourne joined the Boy Who Will Never Grow Up on his adventures, as Wendy, Michael and John Darling. No panto would be complete without some evil villains and they came in the form of the nasty Captain Hook (Jim Kealy) and mean Ms Hardigan (Thérèse Canavan Bolger). These veteran actors were joined by comedy team Caroline O'Connell, Alice Medcalf and Corah Dobbs, playing the hilarious Widow Smeesmoo, and her two dimwitted sons, Smee and Smoo. On their adventures through Neverland, Peter and The Lost Boys met some war hungry Indians, a singing octopus, a very scary crocodile as well as some fantastic mermaids called The KarSplashians (Niamh Bolger, Nadia Corridan, Alanah Dobbs). With lots of songs, both panto favourites and pop songs, and a team of fantastic dancers, the panto team had audiences flying high with this delightful and thrilling show.

Producer/ Director Gearóid McCauley said “We were delighted to return to The Athenaeum, with this fantastic panto. The energy and enthusiasm of the cast and crew of over 80 people was amazing. There was huge interest in tickets and we were overwhelmed when our show sold out so quickly. This was a show for the whole family, and audiences loved every moment.”

At the helm of the exciting project as Producer, Writer & Director, was Enniscorthy man, and Trinity College Drama graduate, Gearóid McCauley. Joining the production team, was recent AIMS Award Best Actress nominee, Yvette Walsh, as Musical Director. Completing the line up as Choreographer was Anne Marie Cooney, who has put Enniscorthy casts through their dance paces for over twelve years.
